5-22-09 ~ Today was a difficult ride as it was the first with our bob trailers, weighing each about fifty pounds. We covered another 70 miles, which were not too challenging until we hit the mountain that took us to the town of Anza, where we camped at a local mormon church. Again, we found the locals to be very helpful, friendly, and interested in our trip. The mountain trek was five and a half miles of constant uphill with no breaks. We were warned by Barret to be very careful tomorrow as we head downhill tomorrow to Desert Palms.
Here are the stats:
1 flat tire ~ Bobby
5 road kill ~ 1 cyote, 2 hairs, 2 snakes
70 miles
142 total miles
3,700 feet of incline
high of 85 degrees
lunch: peanut butter, pepsi, cookies, creme pies, and bagels ~ the point being to load up on carbs, sodium, and sugar

  2. OK, so I'm trying to change my profile name to say Horst. If not, I won't delete the same comment. I had said, "Uh oh, we're almost on the same diet, but I'm not biking anywhere. Glad to hear about it. Stay safe and lift each other up through the desert." Horst.
