Last Hoorah in Utah and Hello Colorful Colorado

6/5-6/09 ~ So we woke up at Natural Bridges after a horrible nights sleep. Even though we're pretty thin guys sleeping four in a three man tent is a tight squeeze. We got packed up real quick and started our mad dash for Blanding and the promise of a house in George and Ruth Stoltzfus. We had a slight climb followed by an incredible downhill deep into a canyon.  Then followed some horribly steep climbs up a canyon and down the other side. It was only 40 some miles into Blanding but our legs were shot. After a quick lunch, we rode the last 10 miles to George and Ruth's. They lived right off the road and also off the grid producing their own electricity from solar panels. They were extremely hospitable and that night we had our first home cooked meal in days. Afterwards, George took us to the top of the mountain near their house and we had an incredibly surreal view into the Canyonlands National Park. The sun was setting and the canyons were draped in mist. We saw many Mule Deer up in the mountains and even saw two Elk with their two calves.
We slept like rocks and woke up to an awesome breakfast prepared by Ruth. The morning was spent doing laundry. The washer was broke so we had to rinse the laundry by hand and hang it out to dry. After a glorious lunch from Ruth, we packed the bobs and headed our for Dove Creek Colorado which was about 40 miles away. The ride was pleasant and the landscape quickly turned from brown desert to Green fields. In Dove Creek, we ate at a gas station and also managed to bum a lot of free food. We than headed over to the local park where we made camp in the pavilion. The night was beautiful and peaceful. The only disturbances came from a cat which Bobby thought was some kids coming to mess with us, and a red fox which Seth mistook for a Coyote. Besides that we slept warmly inside our mummy bags and we realized quickly that Colorado was to be a surprisingly chilly state.
